SUNFLOWERS
Every year neighbors on my street plant sunflowers in their little city garden infront of their apartment. The summer that I was working on my book "Zinnia's Flower Garden" I took photos of the sunflowers in different stages as they grew and collaged parts of the photos into my illustrations. The sunflowers mark the progress of the summer. This year they survived Irene - not even much wind on my street. But now they are starting to droop. Sadly the summer is coming to an end.

It seemed to pass all too quickly this year. Just to hold on to it for a moment longer here are some summer antics: my dancing daughter made this video and this one with her NYCB friends while they were up at Saratoga.

Now back to rehearsals here in New York, the dancers are revving up for the fall season.
The New York City Ballet season opens with Swan Lake but I'm also looking forward to a good dose of Balanchine with Union Jack, 4 Temperaments, Square Dance, Jewels and more. A reason to look forward to fall after all. I'll be there!

Thanks for sharing those videos. They are really fun. And, Lydia is talented in more ways than dance.

I hope she makes some more during the fall season and Nutcracker - it is fun to get a peak behind the scenes. I'll post them if she does!
